The Opportunity:
SANSA invites dynamic, aspiring Electronic Engineering students to apply for a part-time In-Service Trainee position. This role offers hands-on experience in satellite ground station operations at our Hartebeesthoek facility, blending mentorship with real-world projects in a high-performance environment. Ideal for those passionate about space technology and eager to contribute to missions that impact South Africa and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and Maintain Systems: Assist with antenna systems, RF equipment, telecommunications hardware, and software for satellite ground station operations.
- Support Critical Missions: Participate in tracking, telemetry, and command (TT&C) services for satellite launches, emergency support, and in-orbit testing.
- Maintenance: Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance on electronic systems and infrastructure.
- Project Collaboration: Contribute to engineering projects, gaining exposure to end-to-end solutions in space technology.
Requirements:
- Academic: Currently enrolled in an S4/S5 Electrical Engineering qualification (National Diploma/BEng Tech) specializing in Electronics or Telecommunications, requiring Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) to graduate.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of microwave principles, telecommunications, and RF systems. Proficiency in MS Office.
- Practical Needs: Own/reliable transport (site is remote; no public transport). Valid driver’s license.
- Personal Attributes: Strong communication (English), problem-solving aptitude, teamwork, and a commitment to safety.

- South African citizen.
- Aged 35 or younger.
- Willing to undergo background checks (criminal, credit, qualifications).
