Denel Guided Weapons, a leader in aerospace and defence innovation, invites passionate graduates and young engineers to embark on an 18-month immersive traineeship within its cutting-edge Space Programme. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and launch of satellite systems while working alongside seasoned professionals. Key Responsibilities
As a Space Programme Trainee, you will:
- Engage in real-world satellite development projects, tackling challenges across disciplines such as propulsion, thermal control, and flight software.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful execution and launch of satellite missions.
- Contribute innovative ideas and solutions to advance project objectives.
- Gain practical experience in Assembly, Integration & Testing (AIT), mission control, or specialized engineering subsystems.
- Participate in technical reviews, design processes, and system validation activities.
- Support the achievement of mission-critical deadlines and performance metrics.

Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BEng) in STEM fields (Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ICT, or related).
- Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen (no dual citizenship).
- Relocation: Willingness to relocate to the Western Cape for hands-on training.
- Experience: Evidence of engineering-related hobbies, projects, or internships (e.g., robotics, coding clubs, DIY tech projects) is advantageous.
Skills and Attributes
- Technical: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; familiarity with engineering software/tools is a plus.
- Personal: Results-driven, innovative mindset, and ability to work collaboratively in teams.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal abilities, and adaptability to dynamic environments.
