Are you a recent graduate passionate about Information and Communications Technology (ICT)? The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) invites qualified, motivated, and ambitious graduates to apply for the Graduate in Training – ICT programme. About the Programme

The Graduate in Training Programme aims to provide workplace exposure and learning opportunities to graduates who need industry experience aligned with their academic qualifications. This role is perfect for those who hold a National Diploma in Information Technology and are eager to grow within the ICT field.

No prior work experience is required. Successful candidates will be placed through a selection process and then deployed into suitable roles within PRASA’s ICT division.

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Information Technology
  • South African citizenship
  • No work experience required (graduates only)

Key Performance Areas:

As a Graduate in Training, you will be guided and mentored in various ICT functions, including:

  • Software Development: Assist with coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining software systems.
  • Technical Documentation: Contribute to creating and updating user manuals, documentation, and knowledge bases.
  • Incident Management: Participate in resolving IT incidents, reporting issues, and learning best practices in troubleshooting.
  • Network Administration: Gain exposure in monitoring, troubleshooting, and basic network configurations.
  • Hardware Support: Support in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware and peripherals.

Skills & Attributes:

Ideal candidates will possess or be eager to develop the following skills:

  • Knowledge of business environments and administrative processes
  • Understanding of IT systems and legislative frameworks relevant to PRASA
  • Proficiency in MS Office and general computer literacy
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
  • High attention to detail, professional conduct, and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Resilience and ability to stay calm under pressure
