The Role
As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, on-site technical services, including repair, installation, and commissioning of medium and low voltage systems. Your ability to ensure a “first-time right” approach and deliver cost-effective solutions will be vital in maintaining ABB’s standard of service excellence.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain ABB medium/low voltage distribution systems and switchgear
• Troubleshoot protection relays and execute retrofit installations
• Prepare technical reports, complete checklists, and ensure customer documentation is accurate
• Provide timely and professional customer service during all stages of fieldwork
• Support site energization and commissioning activities
• Identify new business opportunities through effective customer interaction
• Adhere strictly to ABB and client health, safety, and environmental standards
• Guide and support junior technicians and conduct training when required

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (BTech in Electrical Engineering is an advantage)
• Proven ability to read circuit diagrams, SLDs, and electrical schematics
• Experience in switchgear repairs and testing
• Proficiency with electrical test equipment
• Valid driver’s license and passport
• Willingness to travel and be available for standby duty
• Must be able to work under pressure, including across South Africa and internationally
