Seriti is looking for an experienced Section Engineer UG, D4 to join our operations at New Denmark Colliery in Mpumalanga. If you are a dedicated and skilled engineering professional with a passion for underground coal mining and the ability to lead, manage and optimize engineering operations, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and execution of engineering operations to ensure long- and short-term machinery availability and infrastructure readiness.
- Ensure strict compliance with legal standards, codes of practice, Seriti’s policies and safety protocols.
- Coordinate planned maintenance and shutdowns, and address breakdowns to reduce downtime and boost productivity.
- Drive technical innovation and implement best practices in asset optimization and project management.
- Manage engineering teams effectively through clear role definition, competency development, and leadership.
- Handle financial budgeting for engineering resources and infrastructure projects.
- Manage contractor and supplier relationships, ensuring service and product compliance to Seriti standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) is essential.
- Completion of a structured Engineering Internship, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a General Engineering Superintendent or Engineering Foreman.
- Demonstrated experience in UG (underground) production machinery in a coal mining environment.
- Deep understanding of Mine Health and Safety Act, and related mining legislation.
- Sound knowledge of OEM, SABS/SANS standards, and underground equipment.
- Familiarity with flameproofing, gas testing, and environmental standards.
- Strong background in project management, maintenance management, and SAP systems.
- Valid driver’s license and MS Office proficiency.
Advantageous:
- ECSA Registration or membership with a recognized South African engineering association.
- Completion of a Management Development Programme or equivalent qualification.
