We are currently seeking 1 x Trainee Technician to join our team at the Gautrain Maintenance Depot in Midrand.


Job Description

As a Trainee Technician, you will play a supportive but critical role in assisting our production team. You’ll contribute to ensuring the safety, availability, and reliability of trains through both preventative and corrective maintenance. This role is designed for aspiring technicians who are passionate about the rail industry and ready to grow their career in a structured, high-tech environment.


🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Support preventative maintenance activities across various systems
  • Assist with corrective maintenance operations when necessary
  • Adhere strictly to safety and quality regulations and procedures
  • Perform basic administrative tasks using MAXIMO (maintenance system)
  • Utilize materials, tools, and equipment correctly and efficiently
  • Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented setting
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends, night shifts, overtime, and public holidays

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • Completed S4 or N6 National Certificate (excluding P1 & P2)
  • South African citizenship
  • Physically fit and able to work at heights
  • Ability to see in colour and hear clearly (noise-exposed environments)
  • Previous rail or production experience is advantageous
