Hitachi Energy South Africa is offering an exciting internship opportunity for an Engineer in Training – Transformers at our Modderfontein site.

About the Role

As a Student Support Engineer (SSE) within our Transformer Tendering and Sales team, you’ll be immersed in hands-on learning experiences that cover every aspect of the transformer business. From technical fundamentals to customer engagement, you’ll gain practical skills and experience that set the foundation for a successful engineering career.

What You’ll Learn and Do:

• Complete online training covering the basics of transformers, components, accessories, and transformer services.
• Learn the full tendering process and eventually lead a Request for Quotation (RFQ) from start to finish with guidance from experts.
• Develop customer engagement skills by delivering professional and courteous support, promoting positive relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to daily business operations, while taking responsibility for your own professional development.
• Embody Hitachi Energy’s core values of Safety, Integrity, and Teamwork in every task and interaction.

Minimum Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
• Solid computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other productivity tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Eagerness to learn, adaptability, problem-solving ability, and a team-oriented mindset.
• Any exposure to transformers, high voltage substations, or electrical equipment is a strong advantage.
