Afrika Tikkun, a leading development organisation committed to supporting youth through sustainable interventions, is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic team as a Junior IT Support Technician. This role is based at our Arekopaneng Centre in Orange Farm and presents an exciting opportunity for a young professional looking to launch their career in the IT support space.

Key Purpose of the Role:

The Junior IT Support Technician will be responsible for ensuring the seamless day-to-day operation of IT systems and infrastructure across the organisation. The successful candidate will provide first-line technical support, assist in system maintenance, and contribute to improving our internal IT operations to support our mission and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Ticket Resolution and User Support:

  • Efficiently handle incoming queries and resolve IT-related issues timeously via phone, in person, or remotely.
  • Provide excellent technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Offer user training and support to enhance technical literacy and cybersecurity awareness.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous manner when liaising with staff, ensuring timely feedback and resolution of issues.

System Maintenance and Administration:

  • Assist with the smooth operation of servers, computer systems, and network infrastructure.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as software updates, security patches, and system backups.
  • Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and apply corrective action when necessary.
  • Help with installations, configurations, and updates of IT equipment and software.

Project Participation and Documentation:

  • Support internal IT projects and ensure milestones are met within given timeframes.
  • Update and manage the asset register accurately and consistently.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles and documentation for common IT procedures and troubleshooting.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
  • A Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • 0–1 year of experience in a technical support or IT helpdesk role.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office 365 (2016 suite and above).
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365 Admin Center, Azure, and Active Directory.
  • Basic knowledge of networking hardware, communication protocols, and printers.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office tools.
