Gijima is currently recruiting an IT Technician Intern for its client, AMSA, in Vanderbijlpark. This exciting opportunity forms part of an Internship Program designed for young, qualified South African individuals who are passionate about technology and eager to kick-start their careers in Information Technology.
The internship runs from 1 August 2025 to 6 August 2025, and the closing date for applications is 6 August 2025. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for candidates who meet the necessary qualifications and are based in the Vanderbijlpark area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for end-user support, incident resolution, and general IT assistance in line with industry standards. Key responsibilities include resolving logged incidents in line with the client’s service level agreements, ensuring excellent customer service and communication, complying with internal rules, and maintaining accurate data records according to ITIL standards. The intern will also handle preventative maintenance, deploy and manage desktop and notebook hardware, and install and support a range of software and peripheral devices.
To qualify, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Hold a completed 3-year tertiary qualification in IT, such as a Diploma in IT Networks, Support Services, Computer Systems, or a BSc. in IT
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, email, and internet use
- Be currently unemployed and not participating in any other internship or learnership
- Not be enrolled at any other tertiary institution
- Reside in Vanderbijlpark (relocation is not an option)
- Be under the age of 35 by 31 August 2025
- Be a South African Citizen, specifically from African, Coloured, or Indian backgrounds
- Have no criminal record
In addition to the above, the following certifications and skills will be advantageous:
- IT Diploma
- CompTIA A+ and N+
- OEM certifications such as HP, Dell, Lenovo
- Cisco Essentials
- ITIL v3 Foundations Certificate
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert)
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues, support end-users effectively, and maintain high standards of service delivery. The intern will be expected to dress professionally, maintain a positive attitude, and uphold company values while delivering technical support.
