SA Lithium, a pioneering force in South Africa’s lithium mining and processing industry, is inviting applications for its prestigious Engineering Internship Programme. As the driving power behind South Africa’s first lithium project at the flagship Highbury Mine, SA Lithium is at the forefront of processing high-grade lithium spodumene ore, contributing significantly to the global transition to sustainable energy. Based in KwaZulu-Natal, the company offers aspiring engineers the unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team shaping the future of clean energy in Africa and beyond.

The Engineering Internship Programme is designed to develop and empower young engineering talent by offering real-world experience in designing, maintaining, and optimising engineering systems. Interns will work closely with seasoned professionals, gaining practical insights and contributing to innovative projects that have a tangible impact. This immersive programme allows participants to engage with complex engineering challenges while developing skills critical for long-term career success.

Applicants must either hold or be in the process of completing a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in one of the following fields: Metallurgy Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geology. The programme is ideal for recent graduates as no prior work experience is required. However, familiarity with engineering principles, processes, and technical systems will be advantageous. Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant engineering software, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities. The ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, coupled with attention to detail and a focus on quality and accuracy, is essential.

The internship is structured to equip graduates with industry-relevant knowledge and hands-on experience through a combination of practical learning and professional development. Participants will benefit from mentorship by industry experts, exposure to project-based work, and opportunities for on-the-job training.
