Impala Platinum Refineries, located in Springs, Gauteng, is seeking to recruit seven Chemical Engineering Work Integrated Learners (P1 and P2 levels) as part of its ongoing commitment to transformation, excellence, and development within the mining industry. This re-advertisement aims to attract motivated and passionate individuals who are eager to gain practical work experience aligned with their academic qualifications in Chemical Engineering.

The successful candidates will join Impala Platinum Refineries’ Human Resources and Training and Development department, commencing in January 2026. The programme offers a one-year work placement designed to provide hands-on experience in various chemical engineering disciplines. This experience is essential for learners who are working toward the completion of a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Chemical Engineering and seek to integrate their academic knowledge with real-world industrial applications.

Applicants must have completed all theoretical modules of their National Diploma in Chemical Engineering. A sound understanding of fundamental chemical engineering concepts is required to ensure that learners can actively participate in the various practical assignments and tasks allocated by their mentors or coaches. Medical fitness, suitable for Basic Medical Risk (BMR) and or Primary Medical Risk (PMR), is also a prerequisite for this position to ensure candidates can meet the physical demands of the mining environment.

Throughout the one-year placement, learners will be assigned duties and responsibilities tailored to their field of study and aligned with the requirements set by their academic institutions. The mentoring and coaching process will play a critical role in supporting the learners’ development, helping them apply theoretical principles in practical scenarios, and fostering professional growth in the chemical engineering sector.

Candidates interested in applying must submit a comprehensive CV accompanied by certified copies of their South African identity document, matriculation certificate, statement of academic results, and a letter from their higher education institution confirming that all theoretical subjects for the National Diploma have been completed. Only applicants who meet these criteria will be considered for the next stages of the recruitment process.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo psychometric assessments as part of the selection process. Impala Platinum Limited reserves the right not to make any appointment should no suitable candidates be identified.
