Transnet Corporate Centre is inviting applications from motivated and enthusiastic individuals for its Work Integrated Learner (Non-Technical) Programme. This initiative is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical workplace experience, enabling them to apply their academic knowledge in a professional environment. The programme offers a comprehensive twelve-month training period where participants gain hands-on exposure, mentorship, and development opportunities aimed at enhancing employability and preparing them for future career paths.
The Work Integrated Learner Programme is suitable for candidates who have completed their theoretical studies in disciplines such as Information Technology, Business Administration, and Supply Chain Management. Successful applicants will be involved in a variety of tasks within a designated department or workstream. They will assist in project execution, perform routine operational duties under supervision, and support administrative functions, including documentation and reporting.
Participants will actively engage in learning and development activities throughout the programme. This includes attending training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes, as well as shadowing experienced professionals to gain practical insights. Trainees will also take part in problem-solving exercises aimed at developing analytical and critical thinking skills that are essential for professional growth.
Communication and collaboration are central to the programme. Trainees will interact with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to understand business needs and contribute to ongoing projects. They will provide regular updates on assigned tasks and project progress, and serve as a central contact point for queries and assistance within their departments.
Research and analysis form another key element of the programme. Trainees will conduct market research, collect and analyze data to support business decisions, and prepare reports and presentations using Microsoft Office tools. They will also assist in process improvement initiatives, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations.
Compliance and safety are integral to all activities. Participants are expected to follow company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards, and maintain confidentiality and integrity in all tasks.
Applicants must be South African citizens aged between 18 and 35 and must have completed all theoretical subjects of a Diploma from a University of Technology in Information Technology, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management. Preference will be given to people with disabilities, and applicants must not have any bursary obligations with another company. Certified copies of Matric certificates, academic records, and identification documents are required.
Key competencies for successful candidates include strong written and verbal communication skills, basic computer literacy, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, the ability to work well within a team, and a strong willingness to learn.
Transnet encourages suitably qualified applicants from designated groups in line with the Employment Equity Plan and targets of the organization.
