Job Advert: GIBB Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme – Water and Integrated Infrastructure (WIIG) & Transport

GIBB invites young South Africans to apply for the YES Programme in Water and Integrated Infrastructure and Transport. Applicants must hold a BTech or BEng in Electrical Engineering, be unemployed, aged 18–35, and available for a 12-month placement.

This initiative is a collaboration between business and government aimed at tackling youth unemployment by equipping young people with meaningful workplace experience, practical skills, and a pathway toward long-term employment. The YES learner placements will be hosted within GIBB’s Water and Integrated Infrastructure (WIIG) and Transport delivery units. Participants will be employed on a fixed-term contract for a period of twelve months, during which they will receive structured workplace experience while earning a salary. To be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must meet specific requirements. A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification with Mathematics, Science, and English is essential. In addition, a BTech or BEng in Electrical Engineering is required. Applicants must be South African citizens who were born in South Africa, between the ages of 18 and 35, currently unemployed, and available for a full twelve-month fixed-term placement. Applicants must not have previously been beneficiaries of the YES Programme. Basic computer literacy is also required, as well as a willingness to learn and develop new skills related to the engineering field. The ideal candidate will demonstrate responsibility, honesty, and a strong commitment to personal and professional growth.
