About the Opportunity

Growthpoint is seeking a dynamic and motivated Energy & Efficiency Engineer to join our Sustainability Business Unit. This is an exceptional opportunity for an engineering professional passionate about renewable energy and sustainability to make a tangible impact across one of South Africa’s leading property portfolios.

As part of our forward-thinking team, you’ll play a crucial role in implementing energy efficiency solutions and small-scale embedded generation (SSEG) projects that directly contribute to our sustainability goals and environmental commitments.

What You’ll Do

Working alongside our Heads of Energy and Efficiency Projects, you’ll support the identification and implementation of innovative energy strategies across our property portfolio. Your responsibilities will include conducting energy audits, analyzing performance data, and identifying opportunities for both efficiency improvements and renewable energy integration.

You’ll manage service providers and contractors, ensuring successful project delivery while maintaining operational excellence through comprehensive performance monitoring and reporting. A key aspect of the role involves developing and maintaining systems that track initiative performance, working with utility management platforms including GCX, Soltrak, and MyBuildings.

Your contribution will extend to compiling technical submission packs, managing O&M service level agreements, and ensuring complete as-built documentation for all projects. You’ll also assist in registering clean energy projects to secure valuable green attributes and support our ESG reporting requirements.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • B-Tech or B-Eng degree (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in energy efficiency and/or SSEG projects
  • Applied knowledge of efficiency measures (water and electricity) and small-scale embedded generators
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ECSA registration (Candidate or Professional Engineer/Technologist)
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification through IEPA
  • Qualifications in Financial Modelling or Project Management
  • Experience with energy auditing and performance analysis tools
