The Opportunity
Amentum South Africa (Pty) Ltd, a leading EPC company specializing in Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) installation projects in the Nuclear Industry, has an exciting opening for an Engineer in Training (EIT) at our Melkbosstrand office. This position offers the unique opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station.
As an EIT, you’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, working alongside experienced engineers on development and infrastructure projects that require strong teamwork and problem-solving capabilities. You’ll support senior staff, learn from industry experts, and work toward professional engineering or project management registration.
What You’ll Do
In this dynamic role, you’ll perform and coordinate engineering assignments designed to develop your professional knowledge while applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria necessary for licensure as a professional engineer or project manager. Your responsibilities will span the full spectrum of construction projects and project management, including:
- Providing design assistance to engineers across various engineering projects
- Performing technical calculations and conducting research on selected topics
- Writing technical reports, letters, and meeting minutes
- Reviewing construction sites and filing detailed inspection reports
- Managing subcontractor control, tracking, and documentation
- Handling technical queries, procurement, and equipment control
- Ensuring quality control and document tracking compliance
- Communicating effectively with all project stakeholders in a timely manner
- Participating in Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) initiatives
- Assisting professional engineers with tasks while remaining responsive to client needs
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications:
- BSc/BEng in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or Instrumentation and Control
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and latest relevant software
