The Opportunity

Standerton Oil Mills is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals from the Lekwa community to join our comprehensive Fitter & Electrical Apprenticeship Programme. Our structured apprenticeship combines hands-on workplace experience with theoretical training, giving you the technical expertise and practical knowledge needed to excel in mechanical and electrical fitting. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your success, learning industry best practices while contributing to real-world projects at our state-of-the-art facility.

What You’ll Do

As an apprentice, you’ll be immersed in all aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance and operations:

  • Hands-On Learning: Work directly with qualified Fitters and Electrical Fitters on maintenance, installation, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment
  • Technical Skills Development: Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and engineering specifications
  • Preventative Maintenance: Participate in routine equipment inspections and scheduled maintenance activities to ensure optimal plant performance
  • Safety Excellence: Develop a strong safety mindset by adhering to industry standards and company safety procedures
  • Formal Training: Attend theoretical and practical training sessions that complement your workplace learning
  • Problem-Solving: Gain troubleshooting skills by assisting with diagnostic work and equipment repairs

Who We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with passes in Mathematics and Physical Science
  • South African citizen under 35 years of age (preference given to SA Youth)
  • Proof of residential address in the Lekwa area
  • Successful completion of internal competency assessments

Advantageous Qualifications:

  • N2 Certificate or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Strong work ethic with eagerness to learn and develop professionally
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams
