Anglo American’s Kumba Iron Ore is seeking ambitious graduates to join our prestigious Professional-In-Training (PIT) programme – your gateway to becoming a certified mining professional.
About the Opportunity
This comprehensive three-year graduate programme offers you the unique chance to work on live mining projects whilst completing the structured training required for both Government Certificate of Competence (GCC) and ECSA registration. You’ll rotate through various sections across our mining operations in South Africa’s Northern Cape province, gaining hands-on experience in one of the world’s leading iron ore producers.
As a PIT: Electrical, you’ll be fully immersed in the technical and operational aspects of electrical engineering within a mining environment. From safety systems to production equipment, you’ll work alongside industry experts who are committed to your development and success.
Your Journey
Your development pathway includes:
- Registration as an Engineer in Training with the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR)
- Recommended registration as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA
- Rotation through different mine sections and sites for comprehensive exposure
- Completion of GCC Law and Plant training sessions
- Fulfillment of all Annexure E requirements for underground mine training
- Quarterly technical reporting to track your progress and achievements
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- B.Eng or BTech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current only)
- Applicable Electrical modules required by DMRE
- Valid South African Driver’s Licence
- Passion for mining and commitment to safety excellence
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic industrial environment
