Building a Smart, Modern SARS: A Call for 60 Future Tech Leaders

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is embarking on an exciting transformation journey, and we’re looking for talented young South Africans to be part of it. In partnership with Microsoft and Deviare, SARS is offering an exceptional 18-month Graduate Programme designed to shape the next generation of technology professionals who will power a modern, digitally enabled revenue authority.

About the Programme

SARS is entering a new era where Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing will revolutionize how we serve taxpayers and traders across South Africa. This transformation means shifting from traditional administrative roles to analytical, tech-driven positions that require innovation, creativity, and cutting-edge technical skills.

This immersive 18-month programme will equip 60 unemployed graduates with world-class training and hands-on experience in some of the most sought-after technology fields. Following the outstanding success of our previous two cohorts—where every participant secured permanent employment at SARS upon completion—this programme continues our commitment to developing exceptional talent.

Programme Streams

Successful candidates will be placed into one of the following exciting career tracks:

• Data Science – Unlock insights from complex datasets to drive strategic decision-making
• Full Stack Developer – Build end-to-end applications that transform user experiences
• Artificial Intelligence Engineer – Develop intelligent systems that automate and optimize operations
• Microsoft Cloud Solutions Architect – Design scalable cloud infrastructure for enterprise solutions
• Microsoft Power Platforms – Create low-code applications that empower business users
• Cyber Security – Protect critical systems and data from evolving digital threats

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking passionate, driven individuals who meet the following requirements:

• South African citizen
• Unemployed youth aged 18-35
• Not currently part of any learnership or internship
• Not enrolled at any tertiary institution, including TVET Colleges
• Hold an NQF Level 6 or 7 qualification in one of these fields:
• BSc Mathematics
• BCom Finance / Information Systems
• Computer Science
• IT or related field
