DNV is seeking an ambitious engineering graduate to join our FlexGrid-HV team as a FACTS Engineer Intern. This is a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) and STATCOM technologies that are critical to modern power grids and renewable energy integration.

About the Role

This 6-month internship offers comprehensive exposure to three core areas of FACTS engineering, with potential for permanent employment based on performance. You’ll work alongside global technical professionals on real-world projects that shape the future of energy transmission and distribution.

What You’ll Learn:

Project Management Excellence
Support the execution of cutting-edge FACTS and reactive power compensation projects from conception to completion. You’ll assist in system studies, design reviews, technical documentation preparation, and project coordination. Develop essential skills in planning, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration while working on projects that directly impact grid stability and renewable energy integration.

Strategic Bid Management
Gain insider knowledge of the competitive renewable energy sector by supporting our bid management team. You’ll research market opportunities, contribute to technical and financial proposals, analyze competitors, and participate in bid presentations. This experience provides invaluable insight into how major infrastructure projects are won and delivered.

Technical Consulting Expertise
Work directly with our consultancy team conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments for FACTS projects worldwide. You’ll analyze site characteristics, evaluate STATCOM technologies, develop financial models, and prepare client recommendations. This hands-on experience will build your technical expertise in power electronics and grid optimization.

What We’re Looking For

We seek candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related fields who are eager to make their mark in the energy sector. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with excellent communication skills and demonstrates genuine enthusiasm for sustainable energy solutions.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong foundation in power systems engineering
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Valued Experience:

  • Familiarity with PSCAD, DIgSILENT, PSSe, MATLAB, or Python
