Are you a recently qualified engineering graduate eager to transform your theoretical knowledge into practical, hands-on experience? Our Boksburg-based client is offering an exceptional 18-month Workshop Internship that will immerse you in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where precision, quality, and technical excellence are paramount.

About the Opportunity

This internship is specifically designed for technically-minded and enthusiastic engineering graduates who are ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the world of calibration, quality assurance, and workshop operations. You’ll be working alongside experienced professionals who are committed to developing your skills and helping you build a strong foundation for your engineering career.

Starting January 2026, you’ll receive a monthly stipend while gaining invaluable exposure to mechanical and electrical systems, calibration procedures, and quality management systems that comply with both national and international standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Workshop Intern, your days will be varied and engaging. You’ll perform quality calibrations both in-house and at client sites, ensuring all work meets rigorous national and international standards. You’ll become proficient in safeguarding the traceability of laboratory equipment and results – a critical skill in any calibration environment.

Your role will involve hands-on problem-solving, addressing quality issues as they arise, and handling customer equipment within agreed turnaround time KPIs. You’ll gain experience with the “Spirit” system for equipment management, a valuable addition to your technical skill set.

Supporting the calibration team will be central to your role, whether assisting with daily tasks, helping with remedial workshop activities, or maintaining excellent laboratory housekeeping standards. You’ll also collaborate with sales, project, and logistics teams, giving you broad exposure to how technical operations integrate with other business functions.

Safety will be your top priority, and you’ll learn to follow safety guidelines meticulously while ensuring timely calibrations according to equipment reference schedules. This role does require physical capability, as you’ll need to lift and handle tools of considerable weight.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will hold a completed tertiary qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering, along with a Matric certificate. A valid driver’s license is essential, as you’ll occasionally perform onsite calibrations.

Beyond qualifications, we’re seeking someone who is computer literate and comfortable interpreting technical documentation. Your keen interest in technical systems, workshop tools, and machinery will serve you well in this role.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important – you’ll be interacting with team members, customers, and various departments. Physical fitness and comfort with hands-on tasks are necessary, as this is not a desk-based role.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with a strong commitment to learning, an unwavering focus on safety, and excellent teamwork abilities.

Why This Opportunity?

This internship offers more than just work experience – it’s a structured learning opportunity that will equip you with industry-relevant skills, professional competencies, and practical knowledge that will accelerate your engineering career. You’ll gain exposure to quality management systems, calibration standards, and workshop operations that are highly valued across multiple industries.
