Macsteel, a proudly South African industry leader, is offering an exceptional 12-month internship opportunity within our dynamic Sales Department. This isn’t just another internship—it’s your launchpad into a rewarding career where technical expertise meets commercial acumen.
About This Opportunity
Based in Brakpan, Gauteng, this intensive training program is designed to bridge the gap between your qualification and professional practice. You’ll be embedded within our Roofing Division at Harvey, where you’ll gain invaluable exposure to the intersection of technical design and sales strategy. This hands-on experience will equip you with skills that extend far beyond the classroom, preparing you for a successful career in the built environment sector.
What You’ll Do
As a Sales Intern, your days will be varied and challenging. You’ll provide essential administrative support to our Sales Department while developing critical technical competencies. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed building designs, producing accurate drawings and impressive 3D models, and ensuring all designs comply with relevant building codes and municipal regulations.
You’ll also dive into the commercial side of construction, measuring materials and quantities, recommending cost-effective solutions that maintain quality standards, and developing design alternatives that deliver value without compromise. This unique combination of technical and commercial exposure will make you a highly sought-after professional in your field.
Additionally, you’ll gain authentic site exposure, witnessing firsthand how designs translate from concept to reality—an invaluable experience that will shape your understanding of practical construction challenges.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking enthusiastic graduates aged 20-28 who hold a Bachelor of Architectural Studies or a Bachelor’s/National Diploma in Quantity Surveying. You must be available and committed to completing the full 12-month program, as consistency is key to maximizing this learning opportunity.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills in English (written and verbal), proficiency in MS Office applications, and possesses excellent problem-solving, planning, and analytical abilities. Your organizational skills and time management will be put to the test as you juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
