Company: Dunlop Belting Products
Location: Benoni
Department: Engineering Department
Reporting to: Engineering HOD
Vacancy: 3 Positions
Closing Date: 24 February 2026
About the Opportunity
Dunlop Belting Products, a leading name in industrial belting solutions, is seeking three motivated and technically inclined individuals to join our Engineering Department as Millwright Apprentices. This is a rare opportunity to build a solid foundation in the millwright trade under the guidance of experienced artisans in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment. If you are passionate about engineering, eager to get your hands dirty, and committed to growing a long-term career in mechanical and electrical maintenance, we want to hear from you.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Millwright Apprentice, you will receive hands-on experiential training that prepares you for a fully qualified trade. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include working alongside your mentor or supervising artisan to dismantle, assemble, and maintain machines and equipment using hand tools and machinery. You will perform welding operations on structural steel and pipes, and assist in identifying and repairing faulty machine components by running electrical and mechanical fault-finding tests. You will also be involved in the installation of new components and parts, the refurbishment of old machines, and the correct fitting of motors and drive mechanisms on production equipment. A key part of your role will involve supporting preventative maintenance programmes by identifying potential issues before they escalate into costly breakdowns.
What We Are Looking For
To be considered for this apprenticeship, you must hold a Grade 12 certificate. An N4–N6 qualification in a relevant engineering field — covering Mathematics, Science, Engineering Drawings, Electrical Machines, and Mechanics of Machines — will be a strong advantage. You should also be computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
Beyond qualifications, we are looking for individuals who are genuinely curious and eager to learn. You should have a good mechanical and electrical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to think critically when troubleshooting machine problems. Being innovative, flexible, and a reliable team player are qualities we value highly in our apprentices.
Language Requirements
Candidates must be proficient in English — able to speak, read, and write fluently — as this is the primary language of communication within the department.
Employment Type
Employment type and conditions will be discussed during the interview process in line with company policy and applicable apprenticeship regulations.
EE Status
This position is advertised in line with the company’s Employment Equity targets.
