This opportunity is ideal for motivated individuals who are passionate about commercial vehicles and aspire to qualify as a Diesel Technician within a world-class automotive environment.
As part of the Daimler Truck network, SMH offers hands-on technical training under the supervision of qualified technicians. This pipeline listing allows the company to identify and engage potential candidates ahead of apprenticeship opportunities becoming available.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Support
- Perform repairs and services according to authorized job cards.
- Meet prescribed flat rate times and technical standards.
- Apply technical skills efficiently and productively.
- Seek supervisory guidance when required.
Customer Service
- Ensure proper care of customer vehicles and property.
- Maintain company quality standards at all times.
- Use protective equipment such as seat covers during service.
- Communicate delays or technical concerns to the Foreman and Service Advisor.
Administration & Compliance
- Accurately complete job cards and record hours worked.
- Conduct fault finding and report findings appropriately.
- Adhere to warranty, maintenance, and dealer standards.
- Minimize material wastage and maintain accurate records.
Self-Development
- Take responsibility for ongoing learning and development.
- Comply with MERSETA apprenticeship agreements.
- Submit training portfolios on time.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics, Science & English
or Technical Matric
or N2 in Mechanical Engineering / N2 Diesel – Motor Mechanic - Computer literacy
- Basic automotive technical knowledge
