This opportunity is ideal for motivated individuals who are passionate about commercial vehicles and aspire to qualify as a Diesel Technician within a world-class automotive environment.

As part of the Daimler Truck network, SMH offers hands-on technical training under the supervision of qualified technicians. This pipeline listing allows the company to identify and engage potential candidates ahead of apprenticeship opportunities becoming available.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Support

• Perform repairs and services according to authorized job cards.
• Meet prescribed flat rate times and technical standards.
• Apply technical skills efficiently and productively.
• Seek supervisory guidance when required.

Customer Service

• Ensure proper care of customer vehicles and property.
• Maintain company quality standards at all times.
• Use protective equipment such as seat covers during service.
• Communicate delays or technical concerns to the Foreman and Service Advisor.

Administration & Compliance

• Accurately complete job cards and record hours worked.
• Conduct fault finding and report findings appropriately.
• Adhere to warranty, maintenance, and dealer standards.
• Minimize material wastage and maintain accurate records.

Self-Development

• Take responsibility for ongoing learning and development.
• Comply with MERSETA apprenticeship agreements.
• Submit training portfolios on time.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 with Mathematics, Science & English
  or Technical Matric
  or N2 in Mechanical Engineering / N2 Diesel – Motor Mechanic
• Computer literacy
• Basic automotive technical knowledge
