De Beers Group Engineering Learnerships 2026

De Beers Group is offering Engineering Learnerships in seven trades — including Electrician, Boilermaker, Diesel Mechanic, and Rigger — based in Limpopo’s Blouberg and Musina Municipalities. Open to Grade 12, N2, or NCV Level 3 candidates. Closing 20 March 2026.

De Beers Group, one of the world’s most iconic names in mining and natural resources, is inviting applications for its Engineering Learnerships 2026. This is a rare opportunity for aspiring artisans to enter the mining sector through a structured, fully supported training programme that leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

The learnerships are based in the Blouberg and Musina Municipalities in Limpopo and are designed to equip candidates with the technical skills, practical experience, and professional foundation needed to qualify as certified artisans in their chosen trade.

About the Programme

Successful candidates will complete a structured QCTO Occupational Qualification registered with the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) through a tripartite Learnership Programme Agreement. The programme combines theoretical instruction with hands-on workplace training, culminating in full artisan certification. Candidates will be employed on a fixed-term contract linked to the duration of the programme, with company-sponsored transport provided to the training centre outside Limpopo.

Available Trades

Applications are open across seven engineering disciplines:

  • Boilermaker
  • Instrument Mechanician
  • Electrician
  • Fitter and Turner
  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Transportation Electrician (Auto Electrician)
  • Rigger

Each trade has a designated reference number — applicants must stipulate the relevant reference number when applying.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must hold one of the following:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Maths Literacy), Physical Science, and English, with a minimum 40% pass in all subjects; or
  • N2 certificate with four subjects relevant to the trade; or
  • NCV Level 3 with at least 40% in Mathematics and all other relevant subjects.

Subject requirements vary per trade. For example, the Electrician trade requires Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, and Electrical Trade Theory, while the Diesel Mechanic trade requires Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, and Diesel/Motor Trade Theory. Applicants should confirm the specific subject requirements for their chosen trade before applying.

Additional requirements include the ability to travel to the training centre out of Limpopo province, successful attainment of a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness Certificate), a clear SAPS criminal record, and completion of psychometric and technical assessments.

Who Should Apply

De Beers Group is looking for motivated individuals who possess strong technical aptitude and a genuine interest in engineering trades. Candidates should demonstrate good written and verbal communication in English, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to high performance and continuous learning. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is advantageous.
