The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) invites applications from passionate, innovative, and driven graduates for its 2027 Information Technology Internship Programme (Grow-IT), with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This opportunity is designed to develop future-ready technology professionals and contribute to addressing critical and scarce IT skills in South Africa.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The Grow-IT Internship Programme is a structured, one-year contract (with a possibility of extension) within SARB’s Business Solutions and Technology Department (BSTD).
Successful candidates will:
- Gain hands-on experience in a real IT working environment
- Develop both technical and behavioural competencies
- Work on AI and data-driven projects
- Contribute to strategic technology initiatives
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold one of the following qualifications:
- National Diploma in IT (NQF 6)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Information Technology
- BTech Degree in Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, or Data Science (NQF 7)
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years
- Be curious, self-motivated, and innovative
ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS
The following will be beneficial:
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure)
- Python programming skills
- Basic understanding of Model Context Protocol (MCP)
- Exposure to AI and data engineering
