Linkmet Metallurgical, in partnership with the MQA, is recruiting 8 interns at MTC Sefateng Mine in Limpopo. Positions available for Intern Geologists (x2), Intern Mine Surveyors (x3), and Intern Mining Engineers (x3). Two-year contract. Closing 31 March 2026.


Linkmet Metallurgical (Pty) Ltd, in partnership with the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA), is offering an exciting inservice training opportunity for young South African graduates seeking to gain practical workplace experience in the mining sector. The programme is hosted at MTC Sefateng Mine in Limpopo Province and is open to qualifying candidates in three critical mining disciplines.

This is a two-year contract-based training programme designed to equip interns with the hands-on technical skills and professional exposure needed to build meaningful careers in mining. The opportunity is MQA-sponsored, making it a highly structured and credible stepping stone for graduates who are ready to move from the classroom into the field.

Available Positions

Linkmet Metallurgical is recruiting for the following intern roles:

Intern Geologists (x2) — For candidates who hold a National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Geology and are ready to apply their academic training in an active mining environment.

Intern Mine Surveyors (x3) — For graduates with a National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mine Surveying who are looking to develop their technical surveying skills under professional guidance at an operational mine site.

Intern Mining Engineers (x3) — For engineering graduates with a National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering who want to gain structured inservice training and build their competency in a real-world mining context.

A total of eight intern positions are available across these three disciplines.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for any of the above positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Candidates must hold a National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline. Applicants must be residing around MTC Sefateng Mine or in labour-sending communities around the mine. Candidates must be able to obtain a Red Ticket. Applicants must not have previously participated in any MQA-sponsored training programme. Candidates must be willing to work shifts. All applicants must be South African citizens.

Please note that preference will be given to applicants from labour-sending communities around the mine. Candidates from Sekhukhune District in Limpopo, as well as those from other provinces, are encouraged to apply.

Contract Duration

The successful candidates will be appointed on a two-year inservice training contract.
