Based in Centurion, Gauteng, this is a contract opportunity offering graduate engineers direct exposure to live project design work across Lesedi’s industrial portfolio. The closing date for applications is 01 April 2026.

Lesedi Nuclear Services is a proudly South African engineering company with a strong footprint in the energy and industrial sectors. The company is recognised for its technical rigour and commitment to developing the next generation of professional engineers. Joining the Design Group as an Engineer-In-Training places you in an environment where your growth is actively supported, and where the work you contribute has real-world impact.

About the Role

The Engineer-In-Training: Process position sits within Lesedi’s Industrial Division and is designed specifically to support graduate engineers in building the practical, project-based experience required for professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will be assigned to design tasks on a range of projects, giving you exposure to engineering calculations, technical drawings, design reports, and the application of relevant codes and standards.

This is not a passive observational role. You will be expected to contribute meaningfully to project milestones, complete assigned deliverables within deadlines, and take initiative in seeking out learning opportunities. The role offers a structured pathway toward ECSA candidacy for engineers who are serious about their professional development.

Key Responsibilities

You will apply your foundational engineering knowledge to produce accurate and compliant technical work across drawings, calculations, designs, and reports. You will participate in project delivery by contributing to milestones, documenting your work thoroughly, and demonstrating sound problem-solving in a project environment. Engagement in training programmes and mentorship structures forms a core part of the role, as does building effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and clients.

Safety and quality are non-negotiable at Lesedi. You will be expected to adhere to all company and industry safety protocols, identify and escalate risks promptly, and maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance in all work produced. Beyond the expected, Lesedi values engineers who show curiosity and initiative — those who bring ideas to the table and are willing to take on new challenges as they arise.

Who Should Apply

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (BEng or BSc Eng) and must be computer literate. Prior practical or industrial experience is not required but will be an advantage. The ideal candidate is deadline-driven, self-motivated, analytically strong, and eager to develop within a professional engineering environment. You should be comfortable working under supervision while also demonstrating the initiative and drive that professional registration demands.

How to Apply

If you are a graduate Chemical Engineer ready to take your first step into the industry with a company that invests in its people, submit your application before the closing date of 01 April 2026.
