Eskom Distribution Division is offering an exciting opportunity for a Learner Intern Non-Technical (University of Technology) based at the North West Operating Unit, within the GEMMA Cluster. This is a fixed-term contract position graded at Task Grade L6, open to graduates from a range of non-technical disciplines who are eager to gain meaningful workplace experience within one of Africa’s largest energy utilities.

Eskom Distribution is responsible for the delivery of electricity to millions of homes, businesses, and institutions across South Africa. The GEMMA Cluster in the North West Operating Unit serves a critical geographic area, and the learner intern programme exists to develop a pipeline of skilled, work-ready graduates who can contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s administrative and support functions across various departments.

As a Learner Intern, you will be placed within one of several departments aligned to your qualification. While formal key responsibilities are not prescribed — allowing for flexible placement — you will be expected to bring a proactive, disciplined, and safety-conscious attitude to the workplace. This is an opportunity not only to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world environment but to develop the professional habits, technical understanding, and interpersonal skills that employers across the energy and public utility sector value highly.

Eskom is looking for candidates who communicate well, demonstrate emotional resilience, and are capable of working both independently and as part of a team. The ability to understand technical concepts — even in a non-technical role — is important given the operational environment. Candidates must be physically capable of performing work as required and must approach their responsibilities with commitment and self-discipline.

To be considered, applicants must be South African citizens who have completed a relevant National Diploma, B Tech, or Advanced Diploma in one of the following disciplines: Surveying, Finance/Accounting/Commerce, Marketing, Information Science, Library and Information Studies, Quality Management, Business Administration, Safety/Risk Management, Information Technology, Occupational Hygiene, Security, Business Management, Human Resources/Social Science, Quantity Surveying, Geomatics, or Geographic Information Systems.

Eskom is committed to employment equity and diversity. In line with its employment equity plan and targets, preference may be given to candidates from under-represented designated groups. Candidates living with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Eskom reserves the right not to make an appointment to any advertised post.

If you have not been contacted within 28 days of the closing date, kindly consider your application unsuccessful. For candidate support, contact candidate.support@ci.hr.

This is a rare chance to begin your career within a nationally significant institution. Apply before 23 March 2026 via the link below.
