Sasol is inviting applications for its prestigious Bursary Programme, supporting exceptional young South African talent pursuing full-time undergraduate studies in Engineering and Science for the 2027 academic year. This is a performance-based programme designed not only to fund your studies but to set you on a path toward a rewarding career in the energy and chemicals sector.

Applications are open from 1 April 2026 to 17 May 2026.

What the Bursary Covers

Eligible Fields of Study

Applicants enrolling for full-time studies at a Sasol-approved South African public university in 2027 may apply in the following disciplines:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Chemistry (studies to Honours level required)
  • Civil Engineering
  • Data Science (Computer Science / Mathematics / Operations Research / Statistics)
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Geology (Honours degree mandatory)
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering / Metallurgy (studies to Honours level required)
  • Mine Surveying (University of Johannesburg only)

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens by birth
  • Reside permanently in South Africa
  • Be registered for full-time undergraduate studies at a Sasol-approved public university in 2027

Note: Studies at UNISA are not considered.

Minimum Academic Requirements

B.Eng. and B.Sc.Eng:

  • Mathematics: Level 6 (70–79%)
  • Physical Science: Level 6 (70–79%)
  • English: Level 5 (60–69%) for First Additional or Home Language; Level 4 (50–59%) for Second Additional Language

B.Eng. Tech (Mine Surveying only):

  • Mathematics: Level 5 (60–69%)
  • Physical Science: Level 5 (60–69%)
  • English: Level 5 (60–69%) for First Additional or Home Language; Level 4 (50–59%) for Second Additional Language

Documents Required

  • Grade 12 results (first- and second-year applicants)
  • Previous academic results and full academic record (second, third, and fourth-year applicants)
  • Proof of registration for 2026 studies (if currently enrolled)
  • Proof of permanent home residence (municipality and district)
  • Willingness to complete online psychometric testing
