Impala Platinum Limited, one of South Africa’s leading platinum group metals producers, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for seven (7) Work Experience Learner positions within the Chemical Engineering discipline. This is a structured, one-year practical training opportunity designed to bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice.

About the Opportunity

This learnership is aimed at graduates who have completed all theoretical modules of a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering and are seeking a recognised work experience placement that satisfies university requirements. Successful candidates will be embedded within Impala Platinum’s operations at Springs, gaining hands-on exposure to real-world chemical engineering environments under the guidance of experienced mentors and coaches.

The placement is aligned with the requirements of the candidate’s training institution and is structured to support completion of a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Chemical Engineering. Duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the designated mentor or coach in accordance with the relevant academic requirements, ensuring that learners gain practical competence across key areas of the discipline.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Completion of all theoretical modules of a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of foundational chemical engineering concepts
  • Medical fitness for Basic Medical Requirements (BMR) and/or Physical Medical Requirements (PMR)
