Eskom, one of Africa’s largest electricity utilities, is offering an exciting opportunity for technically skilled individuals to join its Learner – Plant Maintenance Programme across various sites in South Africa. A total of 10 positions are available, and successful candidates will be required to sign a two-year learning programme contract, during which they will receive a stipend in accordance with Eskom’s company policies and procedures.

About the Programme

This learnership is based within Eskom’s Turbo Gen Services business unit under the Plant Maintenance department. Operating at Task Grade I03, the programme is designed to develop competent, hands-on technical professionals who will contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of plant infrastructure across Eskom’s national footprint. What You Will Bring

Eskom is looking for candidates who demonstrate both technical aptitude and a strong work ethic. Successful applicants should possess:

  • The ability to use Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation measuring equipment
  • The ability to read and interpret component drawings and tolerances
  • A solid understanding of quality systems and the ability to maintain high standards of workmanship
  • The capacity to read, understand, and independently work from technical drawings, specifications, and unit conversions in line with international codes and standards

Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for this programme, candidates must hold:

  • An S4 qualification in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics (Control & Instrumentation)
  • An Electrical (Power Plant) specialisation will serve as an added advantage

No prior work experience is required, making this an ideal entry point for recent graduates seeking practical, industry-relevant exposure in the power generation sector.
