Young Technical Graduates Training Programme — Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality

Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, in partnership with National Treasury, is recruiting unemployed graduates from Buffalo City or the Eastern Cape for a 3-year training programme. Disciplines include Geomatics, GIS, Electrical Engineering, Town & Regional Planning, and Property Valuation. Closing date: 08 May 2026.


Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, in partnership with National Treasury, is offering an exciting structured training opportunity for young, unemployed graduates from Buffalo City or the Eastern Cape Province. This three-year Young Technical Graduates Training Programme is open across several engineering and developmental planning disciplines, giving qualifying candidates the chance to gain meaningful, structured workplace experience within a major metropolitan municipality.

The programme targets graduates in the following fields:

Geomatics (Ref: 01/26) — 2 opportunities
Applicants must hold a BSc or Degree in Land Surveying or Geomatics. This placement is within the Geomatics Division.

GIS (Ref: 02/26) — 2 opportunities
A BSc or Degree in GIS, Geography, or a related Earth Science qualification with GIS as a major is required. This placement falls under the GIS Unit.

Electrical Engineering (Ref: 03/22) — 2 opportunities
Candidates must hold a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering. This placement is within Infrastructure Services.

Town & Regional Planning — National Diploma (Ref: 04/26) — 2 opportunities
A National Diploma in Town & Regional Planning is required. This placement is within the Spatial Planning & Development Directorate.

Property Valuation (Ref: 05/26) — 1 opportunity
Applicants must hold a National Diploma in Property Valuation. This placement is within the Budget & Treasury, Rates & Valuation Unit.

Town & Regional Planning — Degree (Ref: 06/26) — 1 opportunity
A Degree in Town & Regional Planning is required. This placement is also within the Spatial Planning & Development Directorate.

All candidates across all disciplines must be residents of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality or the Eastern Cape Province, must be computer literate, and must be unemployed at the time of application.
