Are you a technically minded individual with a passion for hands-on learning and a drive to build a career in the automotive manufacturing industry? Feltex is looking for a motivated Millwright Apprentice to join its maintenance team and embark on a structured, four-year journey toward becoming a qualified artisan.
This is more than just an apprenticeship — it is a launchpad into one of the most in-demand trades in South African manufacturing.
About the Programme
The Feltex Apprenticeship Programme is purpose-built to develop skilled employees and artisans within the Automotive Industry. Registered under a four-year contract with the MERSETA, the programme equips apprentices with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies needed to thrive on high-volume production lines.
Beyond the trade itself, the programme places strong emphasis on personal and professional development — covering areas such as customer service, quality compliance, and teamwork. Feltex believes that a well-rounded artisan is not only technically proficient but also capable of working effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You Will Do
As a Millwright Apprentice, you will follow a structured development plan designed to progressively build your skills and confidence in a real production environment. Your training will include:
- Electrical and fitter training at an accredited training centre
- Hands-on, on-the-job experience within Feltex plant operations
- Further Education and Training (FET) through technical college subjects, subject to meeting the requirements
- Exposure to cutting-edge industrial equipment and machinery used in automotive manufacturing
You will be expected to apply what you learn, solve problems independently, and contribute meaningfully to the maintenance team from day one.
Who We Are Looking For
Feltex is seeking candidates who are hungry to learn, technically curious, and physically capable of working in a demanding industrial setting. The ideal candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Science
- N3 qualification with subjects in Electrical or Fitter Trade Theory, Mathematics, and Engineering Science
In addition to academic qualifications, successful candidates must demonstrate:
- A strong learning orientation and the ability to apply acquired knowledge in practical settings
- Good problem-solving ability and sound decision-making skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Physical fitness, with good hand-eye coordination
- Willingness to operate and maintain heavy industrial equipment in a heavy industrial environment
- Preparedness to travel and train away from home when required
- No fear of heights
- Readiness to complete all required technical training and technical college subjects
Why Feltex?
