COFCO International South Africa is inviting applications for a Learner Process Technician (LPT) based in Standerton, Limpopo. This is a fixed-term, 24-month opportunity within the company’s Technician Development Programme (TDP) — a structured initiative designed to build technical skills and provide meaningful workplace experience in the agri-processing sector.

In South Africa, COFCO operates the Standerton Oil Mills (SOM), a key production facility where this learnership will be based.
About the Programme
The TDP is aligned with industry standards and SOM’s operational requirements. Learner Technicians will receive structured learning, mentorship, and continuous assessment, with support from both local and international engineering teams within the COFCO group. The programme is designed to equip candidates with the essential engineering skills needed to succeed in the manufacturing industry.
What You Will Do
As a Learner Process Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and controlling plant equipment, utilities, and consumptions within your scope of authority
- Collecting process data and creating trends and dashboards for optimisation purposes
- Conducting fault-finding and diagnosing conditions affecting plant operations
- Performing sampling to identify process improvement opportunities
- Collecting routine and non-routine field data from the plant
- Participating in practical fieldwork and periodic assessments
- Presenting progress reports to a panel of senior staff
- Understanding and applying energy management principles
- Ensuring the plant is operated in accordance with safety standards and COFCO policies
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- S4/S5 completed (all theoretical subjects) in Chemical or Industrial Engineering
- No bursary obligations
- Proof of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) confirmation from your institution (recent)
- Certified Matric Certificate, academic record, and valid ID
Advantageous
- Diploma / BTech / BEng Tech in Chemical or Industrial Engineering
- 1–2 years’ experience in soya/sunflower crushing plants or edible oil extraction
- Experience with Siemens PCS7 SCADA systems
