Eskom, South Africa’s premier electricity utility and a certified Top Employer South Africa 2026 for the second consecutive year, is inviting applications for the position of Technician – Secondary Plant based in Upington, Northern Cape.
This is a permanent role within Eskom’s Grids Business, offering market-related remuneration and the opportunity to contribute directly to the reliability and integrity of South Africa’s electricity supply network.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will ensure that Secondary Plant is operated and maintained in a safe and effective manner, sustaining and enhancing continuous quality of supply while meeting both regional and organisational objectives. This is a technically demanding role suited to a qualified electrical technician with a strong grounding in grid infrastructure and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the integrity of the technical database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of Secondary Plant assets
- Provide technical service support across Secondary Plant systems and infrastructure
- Deliver standardised outputs, drive performance enhancement initiatives, and conduct thorough fault investigations
- Ensure full SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) compliance in all operational activities
- Participate in ongoing training and maintain readiness for emergency preparedness situations
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or National N Diploma (Technical) at NQF Level 6 with 240 credits
- Technical Experience within Grids Business P1 & P2 environments
