Siemens South Africa is opening applications for its 2027 Engineering and Technology Stream Bursary, aimed at Grade 12 learners who want to build a career in one of the country’s most in-demand technical fields. For over 175 years, Siemens has been a global leader in electrification, automation, and digitalisation, and this bursary is a direct route into that world for academically strong, previously disadvantaged students.

What the bursary covers

Successful applicants receive full funding to study one of the following qualifications at a recognised South African institution:

• BSc/B.Eng. Electrical Engineering (Heavy and Light Current)
• BSc/B.Eng. Electronic/Engineering
• Bachelor of Engineering: Technology
• B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Mechatronics)
• Bachelor in Computer Science and Information Technology

Who should apply

This bursary is for current Grade 12 (matric) learners who meet the following requirements:

• Completed or completing Matric/Grade 12
• English – Level 6 or above
• Pure Mathematics – Level 6 or above
• Physical Science – Level 6 or above
• Unemployed South African citizen aged 18 to 25
• Not currently receiving any other funding, including NSFAS or another bursary

Documents you’ll need

Applicants must submit clear copies of the following:

• Motivation letter
• Curriculum Vitae
• ID document
• Grade 11 results and Grade 12 trial marks (available from August/September 2025)
• University acceptance letter

Applications missing any of these documents will be automatically rejected, so make sure everything is in order before you apply.

What happens after you apply

Candidates who meet the minimum academic criteria will be contacted by a Siemens recruiter or bursary coordinator for a virtual video interview. Those who successfully complete the process will be awarded a bursary for that academic year, covering their studies from the outset.
