Ekurhuleni Water Care Company (ERWAT) is offering an In-Service Training opportunity in Chemical Engineering for students looking to gain hands-on, practical experience in a real-world industrial environment. As a trainee, you’ll work alongside senior process controllers and cross-functional teams, gaining exposure to process design, laboratory testing, data analysis, and safety compliance within a structured, supportive environment.

Key Performance Areas

• Assist in the design and analysis of chemical processes under the guidance of a senior process controller
• Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate chemical properties and reactions
• Collect and analyse data to support process improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical projects and safety assessments
• Prepare detailed reports on findings and present results to the engineering team
• Contribute to the development and optimization of production processes
• Support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental regulations within the workplace

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science
• Completed theoretical modules for a Chemical Engineering degree programme
• Demonstrable experience with engineering principles and laboratory techniques related to chemical processes
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
• Commitment to safety and environmental standards in engineering practice
