Free State Department of Human Settlements is inviting unemployed South African graduates to apply for its 2026/2027 Graduate Internship Programme. This 24-month opportunity offers a R8,174.75 monthly stipend across 11 fields in Bloemfontein and districts. Closing date: 21 August 2026, 16:00.


The Free State Department of Human Settlements has opened applications for its Graduate Internship Programme 2026/2027, offering unemployed South African graduates the chance to gain valuable public service experience while contributing to the delivery of sustainable human settlements across the province.

This is a 24-month fixed-term internship based in Bloemfontein and surrounding districts, offering successful candidates a monthly stipend of R8,174.75 along with structured, hands-on exposure to the day-to-day workings of a government department.

Who Should Apply

  • Unemployed South African citizens who originate from and currently reside in South Africa
  • Applicants with Grade 12 plus a relevant NQF Level 6 or 7 qualification, depending on the post applied for
  • Candidates who have never previously participated in a Public Service Internship Programme

  • Information Technology – District Services (2 posts) – Ref: HS 001/2026
  • Project Management Unit – District Services (15 posts across Thabo Mofutsanyana, Fezile Dabi, Lejweleputswa, Mangaung, and Xhariep districts) – Ref: HS 002/2026 to HS 006/2026
  • Office Administration – District Services (10 posts across the same districts) – Ref: HS 007/2026 to HS 011/2026
  • Administrators – Affordable Housing – Ref: HS 012/2026
  • Rental Tribunal – Ref: HS 013/2026
  • Housing Development and Planning – Ref: HS 014/2026
  • Supply Chain Management – Bid Administration and Logistics Management (2 posts) – Ref: HS 015/2026
  • Financial and Budget Management – Salaries and Tax (2 posts) – Ref: HS 016/2026
  • Internal Audit – Ref: HS 017/2026
  • Human Resources Management – Ref: HS 018/2026
  • Corporate Communication – Ref: HS 019/2026
