Midrand, Cape Town & Durban, South Africa
WSP in Africa is offering five bursary opportunities to engineering and environmental science students studying at recognised South African universities. This is a bursary opportunity for full-time students — not a job vacancy — but WSP supports its bursars with vacation work and, where possible, employment opportunities after graduation, helping students build a lasting career.
Who Can Apply
WSP is looking for passionate, dedicated students currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering (Tailings or Water focused)
- Environmental Sciences (Hydrology or Geography)
Requirements
- Currently in your 2nd, 3rd, or final year of a BEng / BSc (Eng) / BIng Engineering / BSc Environmental Sciences degree, for the 2027 academic year
- A minimum average of 60% for your qualification to date
- Passed all subjects for your 2026 academic year to date
- Not currently receiving another bursary or scholarship
- No outstanding service obligations from previous studies
- South African citizens are welcome to apply, with preference given to previously disadvantaged individuals
Key Competencies
WSP values students who show a sense of community, work well in teams, and bring enthusiasm and self-motivation to everything they do. Successful candidates should demonstrate professional and ethical behaviour, a willingness to learn and accept feedback, and the ability to stay resilient under pressure. Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, client focus, and initiative are all important, along with solid time management and early signs of leadership potential.
Required Documents
- Certified copy of your identity document
- Full official, university-stamped academic transcript (all years of study to date)
- Certified proof of university registration
- Copy of your CV with full contact details
- A signed letter of declaration confirming you hold no other bursary or scholarship for 2026/2027
This is a strong opportunity for engineering and environmental science students to secure financial support for their studies while building a pathway toward a career with one of Africa’s leading engineering firms.
