Eskom’s Kendal Power Station in Mpumalanga is recruiting Engineers in Training across multiple disciplines: 2 Process Engineers (Operations), 4 Control & Instrumentation Engineers, 2 Mechanical Engineers, and 2 Electrical Engineers. This is a structured Learning Programme designed to give newly qualified engineers institutionalised, on-the-job training within one of South Africa’s largest power utilities.

Successful candidates will be placed within Eskom’s Operations division and exposed to real plant environments, working alongside experienced engineering teams. The programme forms part of Eskom’s broader commitment to developing technical talent that supports South Africa’s energy future, and comes as the utility marks its second consecutive year of Top Employer South Africa certification.

Minimum Requirements

• Fully completed Engineering Degree (BEng or BSc Eng) in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Control & Instrumentation Engineering
• Must be a South African citizen

About the Role

The Engineer in Training programme is entry-level and does not require prior work experience beyond a completed engineering qualification. It’s aimed at graduates ready to convert academic training into practical, hands-on engineering experience at one of Eskom’s key generation sites. Placement location is Mpumalanga, home to several of Eskom’s coal-fired power stations, including Kendal.
