About the Opportunity

South Africa’s youth unemployment crisis remains severe, with recent Stats SA figures placing unemployment at 60.9% among those aged 15–24 and 40.6% among those aged 25–34. Behind these numbers are graduates who have studied, qualified, and applied — but are still waiting for the first opportunity to convert their qualification into real experience.

Wonderfontein Mine’s internship programme responds directly to this gap. Over 24 months, successful candidates will gain practical exposure to plant metallurgical operations, working alongside experienced professionals and building the technical and workplace skills the mining industry needs.

Positions Available

Four internship positions are open, covering the following qualification streams:

• BTech in Metallurgical Engineering
• BTech in Chemical Engineering
• BTech in Logistics Management

Programme Duration

24 months

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is open to unemployed South African graduates who meet the following criteria:

• Currently unemployed
• Have never previously participated in an internship programme
• Hold a completed BTech in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Logistics Management
