Eskom is offering Engineering Diploma Bursaries for 2027, covering Electrical (Heavy & Light Current), Mechanical, Civil, Data, Chemical Engineering, Measurement Control & Instrumentation, and BEng Tech (Industrial & Electrical). Open to South African citizens at public universities of technology. Applications close 22 September 2026.


Eskom is opening applications for its Engineering Diploma Bursary Programme, aimed at first- and second-year diploma students and third-year BEng Tech (Electrical and Industrial) students studying at recognised South African public universities of technology. This is a strong opportunity for students pursuing technical qualifications who want financial backing while building the skills needed to shape South Africa’s energy future.

Bursaries are available across a wide range of engineering disciplines, including Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current), Electrical Engineering (Light Current), Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Data Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Measurement Control & Instrumentation, BEng Tech in Industrial Engineering, and BEng Tech in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Currently enrolled and actively studying an engineering diploma at a recognised public tertiary institution
  • Must not currently hold any other bursary
  • No carry-over subjects on your academic record
  • University of Technology students must maintain an overall aggregate of 50% or above

Please note that applications for Advanced Diploma qualifications will not be considered. Current registered students must submit their full academic record, and final decisions will depend on 2026 final academic results. Applicants may also be subject to a psychometric assessment.

Selection will be based on academic performance, with preference given to candidates who meet the minimum aggregate requirements and have a clean academic record with no repeated subjects.
