About the Programme
The City of Cape Town is offering a full-time 24-month internship for 10 new graduates in specific fields of study. The Urban Sustainability Internship Programmes (USIP) give graduates a chance to build capacity and skills in key operational areas of the City and to gain practical, hands-on experience.
Who Can Apply
You must be a new graduate in one of the following fields:
Environmental and Built Environment Sciences
Environmental Science or Studies, Nature Conservation, Geographical Science, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Spatial Planning, Urban Design, Regional Planning, and Land Use Management Planning.
Social Sciences, Humanities and Policy
Social Sciences and Humanities, Heritage Resource Management, Development Studies, and Policy and Strategy Development.
Information, Library and Knowledge Management
Library and Information Science, and Information and Knowledge Management.
Business, Economics and Financial Management
Economics, Financial Management, Risk Management, Marketing and Communication, Human Resource Management, and Project Management.
Engineering, Technical and Quantitative Sciences
Engineering Science, Energy Management, and Statistics.
Requirements
- Good planning, administration, writing, analytical and oral communication skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently, within a team and under pressure
- A valid driver’s licence is an advantage for selected posts
What You Will Gain
Over 24 months, interns work inside the City’s operational areas and learn how a large metropolitan municipality delivers services. You will build practical skills, strengthen your CV and gain workplace experience that employers look for. This is a strong starting point for graduates who have struggled to get that first opportunity.
