Gijima is excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for 30 IT Support Interns in Gauteng. This 6-month internship program is designed to support the Gauteng Department of Health in implementing the e-Med Clinical Solution. As an intern, you will contribute directly to the rollout of e-Med, a cutting-edge healthcare system, and gain invaluable hands-on experience in both IT support and the healthcare sector.
Program Overview:
The IT Support Internship at Gijima offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a transformative healthcare initiative within the Gauteng province. The e-Med system is crucial to modernizing healthcare delivery, and this internship will place you at the heart of this important process. Interns will be responsible for assisting in the configuration, customization, and deployment of e-Med modules, helping to ensure the smooth integration of the system into healthcare facilities. This role also allows for significant exposure to various stages of the project lifecycle, from initial implementation to user training and post-deployment support.
The internship aims to provide experience in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, enabling you to develop key skills required for a career in IT support and systems implementation. Key Responsibilities:
As an IT Support Intern, your core responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Implementation: You will assist in configuring and customizing e-Med modules to meet the specific needs of healthcare facilities. This involves working closely with senior team members and technical experts to ensure the system is properly tailored and set up for deployment.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: A major part of the internship will involve supporting testing activities to ensure that e-Med is functioning properly. This includes assisting in conducting tests, analyzing results, and troubleshooting any issues. Your input will help ensure the system’s stability and reliability for end users.
- User Training and Support: You will help provide training to healthcare professionals and staff on how to effectively use e-Med. In addition, you will assist end-users with any system-related queries, ensuring that they can fully utilize the system to improve their workflows. Providing support and troubleshooting during the rollout phase will be a key part of your responsibilities.
- Documentation and Reporting: Interns will be responsible for generating detailed reports on the progress of the deployment. This will involve documenting any challenges faced during the process, identifying issues, and tracking their resolution. These reports will help ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed of the project’s status.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Throughout the internship, you will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including project leads, subject matter experts, and end-users. Your ability to work with diverse teams and ensure that all parties are aligned will be crucial to the success of the project.
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications: You must have completed a 3-year tertiary qualification in one of the following fields:
- National Diploma in Communications Networks
- National Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering
- BSc in Information Systems
- National Diploma in IT
- Employment Status: Only unemployed candidates are eligible to apply. Candidates who are currently employed or engaged in another learnership or internship program are not eligible.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be under the age of 35 as of 1 July 2024.
- South African Citizenship: Only South African citizens are eligible. A preference will be given to candidates from African, Coloured, and Indian backgrounds as part of the organization’s equity and transformation goals.
- Location: Applicants must be residents of Gauteng. Relocation is not an option for this position.
- Criminal and Credit Record: You must have a clear credit (ITC) and no criminal record.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
