Alfa Laval, a global leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation, and fluid handling, is offering a 12-month HR Internship based at their Johannesburg Office in Kempton Park. About the Role
As an HR Intern, you will be embedded within a dynamic HR function, supporting critical people processes across the full employee lifecycle. From recruitment administration and onboarding coordination to skills development and compliance reporting, this role offers broad exposure to operational HR in a multinational environment.
This is a structured, 12-month internship designed to develop your HR competencies in a fast-paced, high-performance setting — ideal for a recent graduate eager to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world context.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding & Offboarding
You will support the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding process, including screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and posting job advertisements across relevant platforms. You will prepare and distribute onboarding packs, gather payroll documentation, maintain personnel files, and coordinate a seamless first-day experience for new starters. On the offboarding side, you will facilitate termination processes, manage clearance documentation, and ensure all required records are completed accurately and on time.
Engagement & Reporting
You will assist in organising company events, career expos, family meetings, and other employee engagement initiatives. You will also prepare HR-related reports as required and assist with the collection of audit documentation, including internal, external, and B-BBEE compliance information.
Skills Development
You will play a key role in the administration of the company’s skills development function. This includes compiling Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR), coordinating internal and external training programmes, maintaining training registers and matrices, and reconciling training costs against cost centres. You will also manage MERSETA and YES programme registrations and support ongoing Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric
- BCom Human Resources or BCom Honours in Industrial Psychology
- An SDF (Skills Development Facilitator) qualification will be advantageous
Competencies
Alfa Laval is looking for a self-starter with strong communication skills, a client service orientation, and the ability to self-manage effectively. You should be agile, results-driven, punctual, and integrity-driven, with solid proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. An outgoing personality and a willingness to take initiative are essential.
