RCL Foods is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Continuous Improvement Intern to join our Speciality team at our Spartan facility on a fixed-term basis. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real manufacturing environment, contributing directly to efficiency, waste reduction, and process excellence.

About the Role

As a Continuous Improvement Intern, you will be embedded in our Operations and Manufacturing team, working alongside experienced professionals to analyse production processes and identify opportunities for improvement. From conducting time and motion studies to building insightful PowerBI dashboards, you will play an active role in shaping how we work — not just observing it.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or final-year student who wants to gain meaningful, practical experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will create detailed reports comparing resource usage against production efficiency, using PowerBI or Excel to surface trends and support data-driven decision-making. You will investigate material usage variances to identify sources of waste and recommend targeted improvements. Through time and motion studies, you will evaluate the effectiveness of production processes and pinpoint areas ripe for optimisation. Throughout all of this, you will apply Lean principles and the DMAIC methodology — Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control — to structure and sustain continuous improvement initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for candidates currently pursuing or who have recently completed a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. You should have a solid grounding in Lean principles and DMAIC methodology, both of which will be assessed during the selection process. Proficiency in PowerBI is preferred, though strong Excel skills are equally valued. Most importantly, you should be able to interpret data confidently and translate it into clear, actionable insights — your analytical ability will also be tested.

Previous coursework, projects, or internship experience in process improvement or optimisation will strengthen your application. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be presenting findings to the wider team and contributing to cross-functional conversations.
