Gijima, one of South Africa’s leading ICT companies, is seeking four motivated and detail-oriented graduates to join its team as Data Analyst Interns based in Midrand, Gauteng. This is a 12-month internship offering candidates the opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to data analytics, HR reporting, and enterprise information systems within a dynamic corporate environment.

About the Opportunity

This programme is designed for recently qualified IT graduates who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting. Interns will work with real business data, contribute to reporting and analytical processes, and develop practical skills in data governance, visualisation, and systems usage. The role falls within the Information Technology division and is ideal for candidates looking to launch a career in data and analytics.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, candidates must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Completed a 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma, Degree, or Diploma) in Information Systems, Information Technology, Informatics, Computer Systems Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Currently unemployed and not enrolled in any other learnership, internship, or academic programme (including distance learning)
  • No criminal record
  • South African citizen (African, White, Coloured, or Indian)
  • Residing in the greater Midrand area — relocation will not be considered
  • Under the age of 35 as of 1 April 2026

Competencies and Skills Required

Gijima is looking for candidates who demonstrate the following:

  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data validation
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Data governance discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Good problem-solving ability and strong time management
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment

Advantageous Skills

While not essential, the following will strengthen your application:

  • Exposure to HRIS platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Sage, or similar systems
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualisation tools
  • An understanding of South African Labour Legislation and HR Reporting Frameworks
