Opportunity Overview

SANSA is offering in-service training opportunities for students who require practical work experience in electronics or telecommunications engineering. The training will take place at our Hartebeesthoek facility and is designed to provide you with real-world experience through mentorship, coaching, and hands-on involvement in exciting national and international space-related operations.

Key Learning Areas

As an Electronic Engineering In-Service Trainee, your practical exposure will include, but not be limited to:

  • Operating and maintaining antenna systems, RF and telecommunications equipment, and related computer systems.
  • Supporting satellite ground station operations and launch services such as TT&C (Tracking, Telemetry, and Command), LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase), and IOT (In-Orbit Testing).
  • Performing routine preventative and reactive maintenance on SANSA and client-owned infrastructure and systems.
  • Contributing to ad-hoc technical and engineering projects.

Ideal Candidate Profile

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Be currently studying or have completed S4/S5 in Electrical Engineering, with specialization in Electronics or Telecommunications.
  • Require work-integrated learning (WIL) to complete their qualification.
  • Have a sound understanding of microwave principles, RF applications, and telecommunications systems.
  • Be proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Be physically fit, have good vision, and use both hands effectively.
  • Be 35 years old or younger, a South African citizen, and in possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Have reliable transport to commute to the remote Hartebeesthoek site (no public transport available).

Additional Information

All shortlisted candidates will undergo background checks, including verification of qualifications, criminal record checks, credit checks, and security clearances.
