Rubicon is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Electronic Repair Technician to join our dynamic team in Linbro Park, Gauteng. This position plays a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction by providing expert-level equipment repairs and technical support. You will work alongside senior technicians and support engineers, handling day-to-day technical inquiries and customer repair tickets. Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
- Respond promptly to customer technical support requests through email, phone, and other communication platforms (e.g., instant messaging).
- Provide professional and effective technical assistance to customers, ensuring a high level of service delivery.
Equipment Repair:
- Diagnose faults and repair renewable energy and electronic equipment down to the component level.
- Restore equipment to factory standards using advanced diagnostic and repair techniques.
- Document all repair processes and outcomes using job management systems.
- Ensure timely resolution and closure of all assigned repair tickets.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with technical support staff across the country to share knowledge and improve processes.
- Collaborate with other departments, including Research and Development (R&D), to support product development.
- Participate in regular team meetings to address technical challenges and share best practices.
- Assist in identifying and documenting recurring issues for continuous improvement.
General Technical Support:
- Attend regular training sessions locally and at supplier facilities to stay updated on the latest technology and repair techniques.
- Provide support across various functions as required, including assisting with sales-related tasks and handling customer inquiries.
- Adapt to new working methods and technologies as directed by the company.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- NQF5 Electronics qualification (National Diploma or equivalent).
- Proven experience in component-level repair of electronic equipment (experience in power electronics is a plus).
- Expertise in repairing both through-hole and surface-mount (SMT) devices.
- Proficient in using tools and equipment such as oscilloscopes, solder rework stations, multimeters, EEPROM programmers, and PC software for firmware updates.
- Excellent PCB soldering and de-soldering skills.
- Highly computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office and a strong understanding of operating systems.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
Beneficial Qualifications & Experience:
- Electronic repair technician certification(s).
- Electrical qualification and/or a relevant diploma in renewable energy.
- Previous experience in:
- Renewable energy or solar PV systems.
- Technical support or electronic equipment repair.
