About This Opportunity
Gijima is seeking 1 dedicated Endpoint Security Intern to join our dynamic Cyber Security team at our head office in Midrand. This internship offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in endpoint security within a leading technology organization, working alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals.
Essential Requirements
Educational Background:
- Completed 3-year degree or diploma in Information Technology (must be relevant to Endpoint Security)
- Note: This is NOT a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program
Technical Proficiency:
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Competent in email communication and internet usage
Personal Requirements:
- South African Citizen (African, Asian, Indian)
- Under 35 years of age as of 1 August 2025
- Clean criminal record
- Currently unemployed
- Not participating in any other learnership or internship program
- Not enrolled at any tertiary institution
- Resident of Gauteng (preferably Midrand area) – relocation not available
Technical Skills We’re Looking For
Operating Systems Knowledge:
- Understanding of Windows, Linux, and macOS security features
- Knowledge of system hardening and patching processes
Endpoint Security Tools:
- Entry-level exposure to antivirus/anti-malware solutions (Microsoft Defender, Symantec, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne)
- Basic understanding of EDR/XDR capabilities including threat detection, isolation, and response
Networking & Security Fundamentals:
- TCP/IP fundamentals, ports, and protocols
- Understanding of endpoint-to-network communication
- Awareness of common attack vectors (phishing, ransomware, privilege escalation)
Security Concepts:
- Knowledge of CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability)
- Understanding of incident handling lifecycle (detection, analysis, containment, recovery)
Key Competencies
Professional Skills:
- Eagerness to learn new endpoint tools and security frameworks
- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Exceptional attention to detail when reviewing security alerts and logs
- Team collaboration abilities for working with SOC, IT support, and security teams
- Problem-solving mindset with methodical diagnostic approach
- Adaptability to new tools, processes, and security requirements
Documentation & Ethics:
- Ability to write clear security incident reports and troubleshooting documentation
- Strong ethical responsibility regarding data privacy and sensitive information handling
- Excellent time management skills for completing internship projects within deadlines
